We love the Log Periodic Dipole Array (LPDA) design for its wide frequency coverage and single feedline convenience. Long popular with government, intelligence and military users, LPDA's deserve wider adoption in the amateur radio world especially now with the emergence of SDR transcievers able to receive wide swathes of spectrum at one time and the expanding popularity of WARC band DXing on 30, 17 and 12 meters.
Force 12 has designed and sold several models of high performance LPDA antennas durinig its history which have been unavailable in recent years but are available again in 2015 by popular demand! They are classic designs, patterned after the verifiable, excellent work of reknown antenna guru L.B.Cebik, W4RNL. They are rated for 100+ mph and use a sturdy double boom design for impedance matching. The 7 element model RK-7L covers 13 to 30 MHz continuous and the 10 element model RK-10L covers 10 to 30 MHz continuous.
We are also offereing to our amateur radio customers a high performance commerical LPDA designed by Justin Johnson G0KSC. its a 13 element beast covering 10 to 54 MHz continuous with performance specs more typical of optimized monoband Yagis and not wide spectrum antennas! Info here.
In the UK, our sister company InnovAntennas has developed a line of high performance VHF and UHF LPDAs which we are making available in North America.
Watch for many new HF and VHF LPDAs from Force 12 and InnovAntennas soon!
